Spring is finally around the corner and on Wednesday, March 8 it's International Women's Day.
Time to celebrate with The Caribbean Housewife!
Wednesday, March 8
18:00 - 23:00
The next HOUSEWIFE ROAST with natural wine pairings from women producers consists of a 4-course menu with the following signature dishes.
MY MOM'S JOHNNY CAKES
Pretty much every person who grew up in the Caribbean has fond memories of these deep-fried bread rolls. My mother made them stuffed with oozing cheese. A childhood favorite, which we can't wait to share with you!
SURINAAMSE DAME
Our much-loved Surinamese peanut soup with creamy coconut, bean sprouts, long beans, lime, cilantro, and chili, if you dare.
GADO GADO
A hearty dish, which has its roots in Indonesia (the dish in Indonesian literally means "mix-mix"), Java, Sudan, and also Suriname. Our version comes with fried tofu, crunchy vegetables, and a lovely spicy coconut-peanut dressing. You can have the dish with or without egg. Served with fragrant jasmine rice on the side.
BOLO PRETU
Our version of this delicious Caribbean black rum fruit cake with dates, raisins, cherries, plums, and pineapple. This cake is quite expensive to make, because of the ingredients and the long fermentation process. Therefore, it's typically only made to celebrate important life events.
